la promenade le portrait

La Promenade Le Portrait comes from the French "portrait" and reads as [la promen`ade le portr`ai(t)].

The model is based on the painting "Double Portrait with a Glass of Wine" and thus received the corresponding name. The French language was chosen as a tribute to a long period of the author's work dedicated to France and as the most suitable in spirit, which reflects the theme of the collection.

In his works, Chagall often depicted Paris and Vitebsk; and almost all the female images in his works were dedicated to his wife and muse Bella Rosenfeld.

Description

Marc Chagall is a prominent representative of the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century. After his life, the painter left the richest collection of works of art which include works of visual art, mosaics, stained glass windows.

The painting "Double Portrait with a Glass of Wine" is the first part of the triptych. There are two hypotheses about the non-triviality of the plot in the painting where the painter depicted himself on the shoulders of his wife Bella.

The first one is related to a beautiful German legend that describes the siege of a castle in the 12th century. The emperor allowed the defenders of the fortress to release all the women and let them take what was the most valuable and expensive to them. And the women began to carry their men out on their shoulders.

According to the other hypothesis, such a plot could have been connected with Chagall's desire to stress the importance of a woman's role and mission. Demonstrate the strength of mind and a woman's character.

The hands of the clock are stylized with the images of the characters from the painting. The colors and shape of the hands are emblematic to refer to the characters of the author. The larger hand symbolizes a man while the wavy, refined one symbolizes a woman. Together, they create a perfect combination, complementing each other.

Vitebsk – one of the author's favourite cities – is depicted in the background of the work, like in the other paintings of the triptych. When creating the urban landscape, Marc Chagall used a postcard with the views of Vitebsk at the beginning of the 20th century; however, this postcard is quite rare, and the angle in it is not possible to see on other pre-revolutionary urban views. The bridge is an key detail in the painting. According to the stories of the canvas heroine, it was the meeting place of the couple.

The timeline display in the form of a stylized sun and stars is located at the top of the dial, in the sky. The little angel depicted on the back cover is also an element of the painting and symbolizes a little daughter born to Bella and Mark.

The stainless steel case, reliable Swiss quartz movement and natural leather strap are designed to provide maximum comfort in using the accessory.

The box is made in the form of a stretcher with a baguette, turning the watch into a finished work.
